Will you show me a sensible way to achieve my outcome and ease my fear of trying?
Change in a business is for better results – going to a new destination. The people in charge want a safe way to pass through dangerous obstacles. They tend to stick to bad results when there’s no clear way out. People say, “We have to live with this for now.” Why? Trying and failing is high risk.
As a founder, you make change tangible through new solutions. You solve complex problems. However, adopting a new product brings simple and complex obstacles. These increase the likelihood of failure. Do you clearly and quickly convey a sensible path to the result? Do you ground each step so the outcome feels attainable? Most executives will pass on your new capability until you can.
The way your change is deployed influences perception. When implementation is considered practical, attitudes shift. The prospect's thinking converts from fears of trying over to a belief in achieving. It is the founder's job to instill their faith in the project's success.
Their belief in success has two requirements. First, the implementation must be realistic. Then you must be able to easily tell how to take your path and reach each milestone.
Do you live up to this?
